Old man with a pipe

I used to think I was just a regular guy, but . . .
I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist.

I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today’s standards, makes me a fascist.

I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobic.

I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and an ally of big business.

I am a Christian, which now labels me as an infidel.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which now makes me a member of the vast gun lobby.

I am older than 80, which makes me a useless old man.

I think and I reason, therefore I doubt much that the main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.

I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive American culture, which makes me a xenophobe.

I value my safety and that of my family and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing extremist.

I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual’s merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.

I believe in the defense and protection of the homeland for and by all citizens, which now makes me a militant.

Now, a sick old woman is calling me and my friends a basket of deplorables.

Please help me come to terms with the new me . . . because I’m just not sure who I am anymore!

I would like to thank all my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, new found changes in my life and my thinking!

I just can’t imagine or understand what’s happened to me so quickly!
Funny . . . it’s all just taken place over the last 7 or 8 years! As if all this crap wasn’t enough to deal with, I’m now afraid to go into either restroom!

Navy Ends Ratings Titles

The Navy has phased out all of it 91 enlisted ratings titles. As Navy Times reports, the system has existed since the days of the Continental Navy and the changes will “reverberate through the fleet and the veterans community.”

“We’re going to immediately do away with rating titles and address each other by just our rank, as the other services do,” according to Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert Burke. “We recognize that’s going to be a large cultural change, it’s not going to happen overnight, but the direction is to start exercising that now”

Navy Times provides an example: “Sailors will no longer be identified by their job title, say, Fire Controlman 1st Class Joe Sailor, effective immediately. Instead that would be Petty Officer 1st Class Joe Sailor.”

Since its inception, the Navy has had some 700 titles, including 400 created during World War II.

The Navy’s change in titles follows within the Marine Corps, which is removing “man” from 19 occupational titles.

Apparently the terms “Swabby” and “Jarhead” are still revered by the rank and file.

Business Trumps Academics

Intellectuals can persuade the public that government programs are good for us all, which sound ok and feel good, but are not practical in terms of implementation. They hide in academia, and are seldom touched by the real world. Here are the facts:

1. California, New Mexico, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, Maine, South Carolina. These 11 States now have More People on Welfare than they do Employed!!!

2. Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2012, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. Household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support.

What’s the problem with that much support?

Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day.
To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for 40 hour week, while the average job pays $24.00 an hour.

3. A recent “Investor’s Business Daily” article provided statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization:

Percentage (%) of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:

Country Percent
U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%

% of patients diagnosed with diabetes -received treatment within 6 months:

Country Percent
U.S. 93%
England 15%
Canada 43%

% of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months:

Country Percent
U.S. 90%
England 15%
Canada 43%

% referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:

Country Percent
U.S. 77%
England 40%
Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:

Country Percent
U.S. 71%
England 14%
Canada 18%

% of seniors (65+), with low income, who are in “excellent health”:

Country Percent
U.S. 12%
England 2%
Canada 6%

And now…for almost the last statistic: National Health Insurance?

Country Yes/No
U.S. No
England Yes
Canada Yes

4. Check the last set of statistics!!

The percentage of each past president’s cabinet… who had worked in the private business sector…prior to their appointment to the cabinet.
You know what the private business sector is: a real-life business…not a government job.

Percent President
38% Teddy Roosevelt
40% Taft
52% Wilson
49% Harding
48% Coolidge
42% Hoover
50% F. D. Roosevelt
50% Truman
57% Eisenhower
30% Kennedy
47% Johnson
53% Nixon
42% Ford
32% Carter
56%% Reagan
51% G. H. Bush
39% Clinton
55% G. W. Bush
8% OBama

This helps explain the bias, if not the incompetence, of this current administration: ONLY 8% of them…have ever worked in private business!
That’s right! Only eight percent—the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents!

And these people are trying to tell our corporations how to run their business?

How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business when he’s never worked for one?

Or about jobs when he has never really had one?

And, when it’s the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers?

They’ve spent most of their time in academia, government, and/or non-profit jobs or as “community organizers.”

And now you know, “…the rest of the story!”

Levity For Christmas…

A DEA Agent stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked to an old rancher. He told the rancher, “I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.” The rancher said, “okay, but don’t go into that field over there…”, as he pointed out the location. The DEA Agent verbally exploded and said, “look mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!” Reaching into his back pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher. “See this badge?! This badge means I can go wherever I want… On any land! No questions asked, no answers given! Do you understand old man?!”

The rancher kindly nodded, apologized, and went about his chores. Moments later the rancher heard loud screams, he looked up and saw the DEA agent running for his life, being chased by the rancher’s big Santa Gertrudis Bull…… With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it was likely that he’d sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The old rancher threw down his tools, ran as fast as he could to the fence, and yelled at the top of his lungs……

“YOUR BADGE! YOUR BADGE!, SHOW HIM YOUR BADGE!”

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Election Results

We hear a cacophony of blaring and bleating from the media and the Hillary gaggle that she won the popular vote and therefore she should be president, 60,839,497 to 60,265,847. 47.8% to 47,3% with the remaining 4.9% going to the other candidates. But here are the facts:

Trump won the popular vote in 31 states to her 19 and DC. 62% to her 38%. Trump led in the total popular vote for all states except California.
Hillary won California 5,860,714 to Trump’s 3,151,821. 61.6% to 33.1% exclusive of the other candidates.

Thus California gave Hillary the popular vote for all states as claimed by the Democrats and the media.

But deduct her California vote from her national vote leaving her with 54,978,783, and deduct Trump’s California vote from his national total, leaving him with 57.113.976, he wins in a landslide in the other 49 states, 51.3% to her 48.7%.

So, in effect, Hillary was elected president of California and Trump was elected president of the rest of the country by a substantial margin.

This exemplifies the wisdom of the Electoral College, to prevent the vote of any one populace state from overriding the vote of the others.
Trump’s Campaign Manager, Kellyanne Conway, whose expertise is polling, saw this early on and devised her strategy of “6 pathways to the White House”.

This meant ignoring California with its huge Democrat majority and going after the states that would give him the necessary electoral votes to win,
FL, NC, MI, PA, OH, and WI.
