The Club is key-voting Barney Frank’s financial regulatory reform bill, which we expect will be voted on later today. However, we’re now learning that House Republican leaders are going to offer a motion to recommit the bill. The motion will scrap Frank’s bill and replace it with a simple proposal – shut down TARP and take the money to pay down the debt.
Any predictions on what the vote tally would be? Better yet, do you think any Republicans will vote against it?
UPDATE: GOP House Leader John Boehner held his conference together. No Republicans voted against the motion. It failed 190-232, and 19 Democrats sided with the GOP.
